Quoc An Ha

A little about me

Hello there! My name is Quoc An Ha (you can call me An) andwelcome to my little corner of the internet.

I am passionate about creating, building, thinking of novel concepts while also being able to realise them efficiently. Currently I am mostly interested in becoming more adept in backend development, since I already feel at home on the frontend side.

I value good documentation and am interested in the "art" of programming. How do you write code that is not only maintainable for myself but others too? Is there a thing as too muchdocumentation? How viable is TDD and when do you opt to not write tests first?

All these questions indicate to me that I'm actually leaning more towards the social aspects of programming rather than solely the software engineering part, which is why I'm currently keen on working under some mentorship. Of course I still have a lot to learn regarding the engineering part, but I guess that I feel comfortable digging through documentation and best practices already.

If you are interested in more specific technical details, I kindly refer you to my resume.

A little less technical

While it is difficult to accurately describe myself, I'll try to convey what I think is my character.

I tend to be rather philosophical and enjoy thinking about the greater purpose, if there is any. It drives me to be curious and explore perspectives that are contrary to what I am comfortable with. Health, lifestyle and the mind are important topics to me and as a result I try to do a lot of sports, play (and understand) music (theory) and try to keep my mind keen by reading, puzzles and playing chess.

These characteristics of course have drawbacks that I hope to be attentive of. Among them is the danger of being too "perfectionistic", losing focus of the overall purpose and tunneling too much on an aspect that really is not that significant.

The purpose of this website

This website is not only a way for me to present my technical skills, but also to document any thoughts on the previous mentioned subjects, since I believe that writing works well for me in regards to internalising concepts. I intend to use this website as a conglomerate of social media concepts: post and document food recipes (Pinterest), blog about thoughts regarding various subjects (Twitter, Facebook) and of course talk about geeky stuff like Linux, Vim etc.

Thank you for reading and I hope you will enjoy your stay! Feel free to contact me in any way listed on my  contact page.
